Parasisi (2026)
Parasisi (2026)
The presence of outsiders leave deep traces on the Wayana society, on the border of Suriname with French Guyana. Illegal gold mining poisons the river, religious intervention represses indigenous identity, and even doctors with the best intentions leave marks that are often silently violent.
Parasisi traces both the visible disruptions and the subtle echoes from the past, revealing how post-colonial mechanisms persist in indigenous reality today, posing an urgent question about sovereignty, who truly belongs on their own ancestral land.
